LDIF+ Masterclasses offer a unique and enriching opportunity to experience high-calibre dance techniques and methodologies led by internationally acclaimed practitioners whose work is rarely accessible within the UK dance landscape.
Curated to bring global perspectives into local spaces, these masterclasses are designed to broaden artistic horizons, challenge creative boundaries, and deepen understanding of diverse movement vocabularies.
As part of this exciting series, we are proud to present a special masterclass led by Cia Pé No Mundo, a company whose practice is grounded in the intersection of bodily expression and reflexive cultural engagement. Rooted in the rich, complex social and historical context of Brazil, their methodology explores the entanglements of movement with narratives of culture, history, and racial dynamics. Their classes offer not just technical rigour, but also intellectual and emotional depth.
Participants will be introduced to a dynamic fusion of Afro-Indigenous Brazilian dance forms alongside a wider spectrum of African Diasporic movement practices. Through embodied learning, dancers will engage in a process that is both physical and reflective — drawing connections between individual practice and wider socio-cultural histories.
This masterclass will also highlight the work and influence of dance artists who have been at the forefront of addressing Black representation within contemporary dance — not only in Brazil, but in the UK and on a global stage. It is an invitation to reflect on how dance can be a site of resistance, memory, and cultural affirmation.
