Edna Bonhomme & Lola Olufemi: Tending to Our Wounds

Tuesday 21 July 2026

Join Haitian-American scholar and writer Edna Bonhomme in conversation with acclaimed author and feminist thinker Lola Olufemi for an evening exploring Bonhomme’s powerful new book, Tending to Our Wounds. Part memoir, part history and part political reflection, the book examines the enduring impact of slavery, colonialism and racism while offering a compelling vision of healing, resistance and collective liberation.

Drawing on her experiences of life in Haiti, the United States and Germany, Bonhomme reflects on what it means to be Black across different societies, tracing the connections between personal memory and global histories of oppression. In conversation with Lola Olufemi, author of Feminism, Interrupted and Experiments in Imagining Otherwise, the discussion will explore themes of identity, history, feminism, community and the power of storytelling.

Hosted by the London Review Bookshop, the event offers readers an opportunity to hear two of today’s most thoughtful and influential writers discuss the challenges of confronting historical injustice while imagining more hopeful futures. A book signing will follow the conversation.

This special literary event is ideal for readers interested in Black history, contemporary politics, feminism and social justice, offering an engaging evening of ideas, discussion and reflection in the heart of Bloomsbury.
