African Soul Rebels brings together a remarkable line-up of artists celebrating the creativity, energy and diversity of contemporary African music.
Headlining the evening are Les Amazones d’Afrique, the acclaimed West African collective known for combining powerful vocals, traditional influences and modern electronic sounds. Their music explores themes of strength, unity and social change while drawing on musical traditions from across the continent.
The collective has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, including Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, and their work has reached international audiences far beyond the African music scene.
Also appearing is Gasper Nali, a musician from Lake Malawi whose distinctive performances are built around a homemade three-metre-long, one-stringed babatoni bass. Accompanied by simple percussion, including a cow-skin kick drum, Nali creates an infectious sound rooted in Malawian musical traditions while bringing a playful and contemporary energy to the stage.
Opening the evening is N’famady Kouyaté, a young master musician and acclaimed balafon player whose work blends West African musical heritage with modern influences. His performances celebrate the power of traditional instruments while demonstrating how African music continues to evolve and connect with new audiences.
African Soul Rebels is more than a concert. It is a celebration of African creativity across generations, bringing together artists who honour tradition while continually reshaping it.
Through rhythm, improvisation and performance, the evening explores the role music can play in resistance, joy, identity and cultural exchange.
Taking place during Black History Month 2026, African Soul Rebels offers audiences an opportunity to experience some of the most exciting sounds emerging from Africa today while celebrating the continent’s extraordinary musical heritage.
