Explore Windrush memories through clothing, photographs and family stories at a reminiscence workshop led by Sonia Winifred.
The workshop is dedicated to Girleyvine, a Windrush pioneer who arrived from Jamaica and settled in West Norwood in 1958. A selection of her dresses and personal photographs provides the starting point for remembering her life and the experiences of her generation.
The objects she left behind hold memories for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Participants are invited to think about the stories preserved within their own families and the everyday belongings that bring those memories back.
Bring family photographs, a favourite dress or a story you would like to share. Families are welcome to take part together.
Sonia Winifred is a Windrush campaigner and former Lambeth councillor and Cabinet Member. This event forms part of Lambeth Libraries’ Black History Month programme.
