Diversity & Graduate Social Mobility – Together We Can Achieve More – Free Event

Tuesday 21st March 2017 - 9am – 1pm

Join us for the next in our series of Changing Perceptions diversity workshop as we focus on how we can work together to support students from less advantaged backgrounds as they prepare for the transition to graduate employment in the legal and financial services sectors.

The 2015 report, WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP: ENABLING SOCIAL MOBILITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION, demonstrates that socio-economic disadvantage continues to be the most significant driver of inequality in terms of access to and outcomes from higher education and that there is more still to do to address the attainment gap in graduate outcomes.

We know that no one school, university or employer can improve student social mobility on their own so this solution-focused workshop will bring together employers, students and university staff to share knowledge of current initiatives and to participate in our design thinking process as we seek to enhance collaborative activity between the higher education sector and employers. With more flexible and targeted career development opportunities, both within and outside of the university, we aim to raise aspirations, broaden horizons and deepen the talent pool.

About the project, “Changing Perceptions”

It is an interactive workshop series organised by Bright Red Triangle and is open to students, staff and network partners aspiring to shape, share and develop ideas that encourage inclusion in a multi-cultural society, the economy and diverse communities of Scotland.

The focus of the workshops is to consolidate the energies of staff and students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities residing in Scotland to inculcate in them a culture of questioning the ambiguity prevalent in the society and challenging the stereotypes.

Changing Perceptions endeavours to create a culture of recognising team diversity and multi-disciplinary working. We intend to encourage curiosity, raise the level of debate and challenge students and staff to take action, but we need you to get involved if we are really going to make a difference
