This year marks the 76th anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks in 1948, bringing the first Caribbean passengers to Britain. These individuals were invited to help address labour shortages in the UK after World War II.

National Windrush Day celebrates the contributions and achievements of the Windrush generation and their descendants. Barnet Council, in partnership with Barnet African Caribbean Association and Middlesex University, is hosting a family friendly Windrush celebration event.
