Daniel Casimir

Friday 27 August 2021

Award winning bassist and composer Daniel Casimir has become a regular fixture within the UK jazz scene providing his heavy weight upright sound for the likes of Nubya Garcia, Ashley Henry, Camilla George, Binker Golding to name a few.

The premise of Daniel Casimir’s forthcoming album, due out later this year on the Jazz re:freshed label, is both a celebration of Black British Culture and a critique of the genres, labels and stereotypes which have traditionially been placed upon black musicians. The music takes a step outside of prescribed ideas.

The first single. Safe Pt1, is inspired by Derek Owusu’s book of the same title which outlines the experience of being black in Britain.
