Jendella Benson and Shani Akilah

Thursday 31 October

Join authors Jendella and Shani to discuss their fantastic new novels, All That We’ve Got and For Such a Time as This. Both novels discuss friendship and family, romance and relationships, positivity and repression and much more. Two stunning voices with plenty to say!

Jendella Benson is a British-Nigerian author and has written for The Sunday Times STYLE, The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Independent and is Head of Editorial at Black Ballad. In 2023 she was a judge for the AKO Caine Prize for African Writing.

All That We’ve Got: Over one relentlessly hot summer, two women’s lives are about to collide in the most unexpected ways. Could they forge a bond that could free them both, at the heart of a community they’ve taken for granted? A powerful commentary on the city we don’t always see.

Shani Akilah is a Black British Caribbean writer and screenwriter from South London. She is a book influencer, co-founded the Nyah Network, a book club for Black women, and was a literary judge for the Nota Bene Prize 2023.

For Such a Time as This: These are the people who sustain us through good times and bad. Meet Niah and her friends. They’re young, they’re smart, they’re part of a tight friendship group determined to make the most of every day. And their lives are about to change forever. A stunning new collection that is a powerful snapshot of the relationships – and moments – that make us who we are.
