BA After Hours Club: Cooking up a Caribbean storm with Shivi Ramoutar

Thursday, 28 July 2016 from 18:30 to 21:30

The After Hours Club from British Airways, The Club Magazine invites you an exclusive Caribbean dining experience at the Orangery Restaurant, Kew, in association with Peyton and Byrne.

We are thrilled to be hosting a supper club with the talented Caribbean chef Shivi Ramoutar at one of London’s most verdant locations, Kew Royal Botanic Gardens.

Shivi is a hot-list author with her new book ‘Caribbean Modern’ and an ambassador for authentic and feisty Caribbean flavours. The supper club includes a welcome cocktail and three course feasting menu of her favourite dishes. We’re very much looking forward to this one!

Shivi has made it her culinary mission to twist classic Caribbean dishes and ingredients from her childhood into her own vibrant, fresh and easy-to-make delights.

Shivi believes that any menu is only as good as the produce it uses and has crafted a tasting menu of delicious creations from this gregarious chef and to learn about the importance of provenance whilst enjoying the unique setting of Kew Royal Botanic Gardens.

‘Paradise’ Prawns in a lime coconut dressing

Buljol, shredded salt cod salad, scotch bonnet aioli, plantain crisps

Adobo pork belly, sweet potato puree,  crispy chickpeas

Spice poached papaya, vanilla coconut whip

Shivi was born in Trinidad to culturally diverse parents and brought up between there, the heady heights of New York, the grassy fields of the English countryside, and the eclectic buzz of London.

Cited by The Guardian as “Caribbean food supremo”, Shivi has whipped up her tropical delights across London and the UK. Shivi and her recipes have been featured in numerous publications, including The Sunday Times, Delicious. magazine, Good Things magazine, The Metro and The Guardian, to name a few.
