University of Greenwich: BAME Book Club

University of Greenwich: BAME Book Club – Girl, Woman, Other

About this Event

To keep the spirit of Black History Month alive throughout the year, the BAME Staff Network would like to invite colleagues and students to join the BAME Book Club. With only one meeting each term, there’s no excuse not to get reading and join us for our first meeting. Come prepared to discuss the chosen book and share a biscuit, or two.

Any University of Greenwich student or staff member can join. You don’t have to identify as BAME. The only criteria is that all books nominated must have been written by an author who identifies as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic. So, get reading, put the date in your diary, and register.

Our first book is Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo, joint Booker Prize Winner (2019). Bernardine was born in Eltham, therefore, her new book felt like the natural choice to launch with. Currently it’s only available in hardback. However, the UoG libraries have a few copies available, so if you’re quick you won’t even have to buy it. If you don’t have time to read it, but still want to join us, then check out the Audiobook.

All future books will be nominated and voted on by the group.
