Diversify or decolonise?: A Broaden my Bookshelf panel debate

Thursday 11 November 2021

The need to diversify curricula in Higher Education is now widely recognised and few people would take issue with it. The term “decolonisation” is still more contentious however, in fact many of us who work and study in Higher Education Institutions don’t really understand what is meant by it.

This Broaden my Bookshelf panel debate will seek to demystify the concept of decolonisation and to explore how the University of Huddersfield could become a decolonised university.

The University of Huddersfield Broaden my Bookshelf team is made up of staff from the Library and the Students Union. Our aim is to increase the range of books in the Library written by people from a Black, Asian and/or minority ethnic background, and also books by and about LGBT+ people.
