KOKOROKO

Wednesday 14th June

1st Anniversary of the Death of George Floyd

Lacing together influences from jazz, Afrobeat and highlife, this eight-piece band have come to represent all that is blissfully sweet about London’s music scene.

KOKOROKO, like the London scene, are an echo of the past that has taken on new improvised forms, while still sounding entirely original.

The band are a vibrant example of the shape of things to come for British music. They’ve quickly developed a huge cult following, already have a classic record under their belt – 2018’s ‘Abusey Junction’ – and released their debut album, Could We Be More in 2022.

The collective won Best Group at the 2020 Urban Music Awards 2020 and the 2021 Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2021.

They’ve played across the globe at the likes of Glastonbury, MeltdownElbjazzJazz à la VilletteWe Out HereSIM São Paulo and BBC 6Music Festival, as well as performing a raucous session for Boiler Room and making their BBC Proms debut in the Royal Albert Hall.

What KOKOROKO have achieved in the past four years is nothing short of remarkable. Their performance at Christine and the Queens’ Meltdown promises to be another magnificent chapter in their story.
