The Making of My Dad, Mr Brixton with Claudette Parry Laws

Monday 7 October

Courtney Laws OD, OBE (1931 – 1996) spent four decades of his life uplifting the Black community from the thriving cornerstone of black culture – Brixton.

A significant pioneer of the Windrush Generation he helped thousands of people adjust to life in Britain from as early as the 1950s as he sought to support, empower, inspire and represent them, utilizing a phenomenal skill set developed through his political aspirations as a teenager in Jamaica and yet his contribution to black British history has remained untold until now!

My Dad Mr Brixton is a 9-part podcast series written and produced by his daughter Claudette Parry Laws and the result of a decade long pursuit to put his story on the public record. Her investigation brings to life a curious case of a missing legacy, offering a different perspective on modern Black British history and raises questions no daughter should have to ask.

Join Claudette for an illustrated talk on her father and the making of My Dad Mr Brixton which is available on all podcast platforms. [https://www.mydadmrbrixton.com]
