The Black British Dance Platform will showcase new and innovative work by British based artists from the African and African Caribbean Diaspora.

FUBUNATION

Ruins

Ruins opens a dialogue surrounding the myth of masculinity as it is felt within the Pan-African diaspora. FUBUNATION are deconstructing the power struggle within themselves and finding the balance between conflict, vulnerability, and co-dependency. By doing so, they own and repair their deeper anxieties that they have learned so well to mask.

FUBUNATION is a dance organisation directed by choreographers Rhys Dennis, Waddah Sinada and creative producer Steph Be. Their aim is to encourage diversity in dance by sharing openly and authentically their own rich experiences as black men.

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day is a reflective cumming-of-age piece with a comedic edge. A heart-stirring journey that focuses on a vital relationship from an unexpected point of view.

With the use of hip-hop Dance, Dani’s fusion of movement and text narrates a biological tale of a sperm cell hoping to find his purpose in life.

Dani Harris-Walters is an experienced choreographer, performer and teacher based in South West London working with professional choreographers and community projects nationally and internationally.

Supported by Serendipity and Dance4 with the aim of cultivate a sector that is representative of contemporary Britain.

Black British Dance Platform is part of Let’s Dance International Frontiers (LDIF), an annual international dance festival produced by Serendipity. The festival features performances, discussions, workshops and a conference exploring dance as a medium for positive change.
