Sandra A. Agard Hon FRSL is one of Britain’s most treasured storytellers. For over forty years she has been a writer, literary consultant, and performer whose work has enriched audiences of all ages. Her career has taken her across the UK and internationally, bringing her gift for words and performance to schools, colleges, theatres, libraries, prisons, and community settings.

A master of oral tradition, Sandra weaves together drama, songs, games, and literature to create truly interactive storytelling sessions. Audiences are not simply listeners — they become part of the tale. Her performances are lively, engaging, and memorable, encouraging children and young people to see themselves within stories while opening doors to cultures from across the world.

For this special Black History Month 2025 event, Sandra will share her wide repertoire of African, Caribbean, and global folktales, celebrating heritage while connecting to universal themes of courage, resilience, imagination, and joy. Teachers can expect sessions that spark discussion, inspire creativity, and support literacy, drama, and cultural studies in the classroom.

St Barnabas Library is hosting free sessions for schools from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Schools may book slots throughout the day, giving pupils the opportunity to experience storytelling that is at once educational and enchanting.
