The official online Question & Answer session for the 5-star rated, educative film, Vodou: Theology of Liberation.
On the 22nd of August 2021, the film Vodou: Theology of Liberation was released to critical acclaim and 5-star reviews. Described as ‘an essential learning resource and novel exploration of the Haitian Revolution and the principles that inspired it’ , this film has put the theme of social justice firmly back on the map.
This most significant of Revolutions remains one of the most under-studied and explored even as its impact has been global and far-reaching, inspiring the conceptualisation and development of systems such as communism and socialism, as Haiti was the first nation in the Western Hemisphere to be founded on Egalitarian principles.
This online event is the first official Q&A event for the film bringing together the director, Dalian Adofo and two of the essential cast members; Queen Mother Dowoti Desir and Professor Bayyinah Bello. Their expertise, experiences and initiations in Haitian Vodou has helped create and shape a unique Educational resource that explores many overlooked aspects of the Haitian Revolution and its guiding principles.
All registrants will be sent details to the live event within 7 days before it goes live, regardless of whether a contribution/donation is made. We do urge all to donate where possible, as all proceeds from this event is being shared with Fondyason Felicitee (Ayiti) and The AfroAtlantic Theologies & Treaties Institute of Benin, who are doing excellent work on the ground for the most vulnerable, with little to no budget available.
