Join artist Silvia Rosi as she discusses her commission for the Jerwood/Photoworks Awards 2020 with artist Zak Ové.

About this Event

This In Conversation event series has been developed in collaboration with the artists featured in the exhibition Jerwood/Photoworks Awards 2020 and gives you a chance to meet the artists and guest speakers; providing an insight into the ideas and processes behind the works in the exhibition.
The conversation will last for approximately 45 minutes, followed by an opportunity to ask questions. The exhibition will be open before the event for an opportunity to view the works.

About the artist’s guest

Zak Ové (b. 1966, London) lives and works in London and Gran Canaria and is a British/Caribbean artist with a multi-disciplinary practice across sculpture, film and photography. His work is informed in part through the history and lore carried through the African diaspora to the Caribbean, Britain and beyond with particular focus on traditions of masking and masquerade. He curated the major exhibition GET UP STAND UP NOW: Generations of Black Creative Pioneers at Somerset House, London, 2019. In November 2019 he presented a major installation of 40 sculptures The Invisible Man and The Masque of Blackness in the B. Gerald Cantor Sculpture Garden at LACMA, Los Angeles, CA.

Jerwood/Photoworks Awards 2020:

New photographic works by two early career artists, Silvia Rosi and Theo Simpson, enabled by the third Jerwood/Photoworks Awards.
