Funny as Folk Celebrates Black History Month: A Comedy Special

…And we’re back to bring the hilarity! Funny as Folk returns to Florence Dock with an incredible comedic line-up curated by Nice N Spiky, featuring some of the Best Black British Comedians on the scene as we celebrate Black History Month.

 

The evening promises to be laugh out loud funny and includes performances from Gbemi Oladipo and Leah Davis, with 2 more artists still to be announced, so sign up for your ticket, round up your friends and get down to the bar early to get the drinks in – this is not one to miss!..

This event is open to Folk residents, to their guests, and to members of the local community so please just sign up for your complimentary tickets accordingly.

Guests will need to be aged 18 or over to attend this event. Those who arrive before 7.10pm will receive a complimentary bag of popcorn, and in all likelihood will get the pick of the seats – please note that seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Obemi Oladipo

Guaranteed to lift the mood in any room, Gbemi is one of the most talked about comedy names on the circuit. An exciting new voice, he’s known for his charismatic and playful approach to contentious topics. He regularly plays prestigious rooms such as Top Secret Comedy Club, The Comedy Store and Up The Creek. He also wrote and starred in the award-winning F*ck My Life – Most Racist Uber Ride Ever, a short film based on real-life experience. An in demand performer, Gbemi as appeared as support artist for both Babatunde Aléshé’s sold-out national tour and the Mo Gilligan: The Black British Takeover Tour.

Leah Davis

Leah Davis is a radio presenter and stand-up comedian, who currently can be heard on Capital XTRA Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 1am, and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Leah joined Capital XTRA in 2017, and has hosted the Late Show since 2019. She also launched the Capital XTRA Book Club Podcast last year, where she chats to Black authors about the work that they’re putting out in the world, with guests including Amber Rose-Gill, Yewande Biala, the hosts of the Receipts Podcast, Candice Brathwaite-Aboderin and Jordan Stevens. She has won the infamous Blackout at Up The Creek, while also being a Funny Women finalist and British Comedian of the Year finalist.
