Bearwood Shuffle Workshop – African Djembe Drums with Dalbir Singh Rattan

Sat, September 7, 2019 3:30 PM – 4:30

Bearwood Shuffle are pleased to provide a series of free workshops to Shuffle attendees

Join virtuoso Tabla player Dalbir Rattan Singh (Ian Brown, Ocean Colour Scene, Noel Gallagher) for an enjoyable introduction to drumming techniques. Dal will be using the African Djembe drum in these fun one hour workshops.

Dal has lived and worked in the Black Country for the last 15 years. An incredible Tabla player, he has dedicated his life to the honing and mastery of his skill.A student of the legendary Tabla player Ustad Sukhvinder Singh Bharj aka ‘Pinky’, he received rigorous training in Indian Classical Music from a young age. Dal’s own unique style of playing combines this classical form with contemporary experiences drawn from a career of ambitious and innovative collaborations.

He is regarded as one of the most respected players from the UK. In 2001, he met former Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim. They became AZIZ & DAL. Powerful & electrifying, together they fearlessly forged a new genre of British music – The Asian Blues. The Bearwood Shuffle has had the pleasure of hosting Aziz and Dal on a number of occasions.

He has toured the world with great artists (Ian Brown, Richard Ashcroft, Ocean Colour Scene, Noel Gallagher) but when he’s not doing this, back home in the Black Country, he has dedicated the other half of his career to the education of Tabla and drum students in Sandwell. Through Sandwell Music and independent tutelage, he is a highly regarded and popular music teacher.
Workshops will last approximately 60 minutes. All drums are provided.
Spaces are limited so book your slot now!
