BALD BLACK GIRL(S)

Monday 15 July - Sunday 25 August 10am Mon-Fri | 11am Sat-Sun

Bald Black Girl(s) by poet and visual artist Ruth Sutoyé is an exhibition exploring the experiences of bald Black women in London, inspired by her own experiences of becoming a bald Black girl.

Looking at why women choose to shave their heads and the lives they lead, the exhibition explores perceptions of masculinity, femininity, androgyny, sexuality and how women navigate barbershop dynamics.

The exhibition will be accompanied by GRIOT, a night of live performance with Ruth Sutoyé and special guests bringing the themes of Bald Black Girl(s) to the stage through poetry, music and dance.

Roundhouse Resident Artist Ruth Sutoyé is a poet, facilitator, creative producer and visual artist from East London. She is a Barbican Young Poet alumni and member of the SXWKS collective.

Curated by Ruth Sutoyé & Aliyah Hasinah
