BlackFest Celebration Night

Saturday 9 October 2021

Join BlackFest for a special evening to celebrate the end of the festival, and to look to the future as we enter Black History Month with remembrance, celebration, peace and love.

Featuring performances by the Wavertree Community Gospel Choir – a multi-faith and multi-generational choir whose repertoire includes gospel and uplifting popular music. Singer Nicaise Koffi (Kanga Koffi), who uses his vocal talents to say thank you to his adopted home in Liverpool and to raise money to support the city’s rough sleepers. A popular recording artist in his home country, Kanga, was forced to leave after producing the song ‘El Mutino’ that was critical of his country’s leaders following a military coup. 10 percent of the royalties from his single ‘Give It To Me’ go to the Whitechapel Centre to support its work with rough sleepers.

We also have performances from long-time activist, poet, and performer Curtis WattDigitz – a local young aspiring rapper and singer-songwriter with a multitude of skills in performance, filming, and editing, Naami Jane Soya – spoken word artist and poet, rising star Tabitha Jade – an award-winning RnB singer, LeeTz – a political RnB Rap artist, Sinead Renaye – actress, poet and singer, Manoka Mbolokele – a poet and performer, and our youngest performer, 5-year-old Kiki lu-naa baxter yakubu. Kiki is currently crowned Mini Miss Global Darling and over the last year, she has used her platform to raise awareness for Black Lives Matter, and started a successful campaign of donating anti-racism boxes to schools, with over 30 businesses involved to date.

After the performances have taken place, local Liverpool female DJ collective Girl’s Don’t Sync will have you on your feet as the celebration continues!

This is a standing event.
