Jordan’s Demeanours Exhibition

Monday 22 November 2021

The Jordan’s Demeanour Project is a Heritage Lottery funded project which conducted research into black history and the history of Black Gospel Music in the United Kingdom since 1948.

The Jordan’s Demeanours Exhibition consists of remarkable achievements by black people in Politics, Business, Sports and Music.

Launched in 2018 exhibition celebrated 70 years since the Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks bringing 472 passengers from the Caribbean. They had been drafted from various corners of the British Empire to help in the rebuilding of Britain after World War II. This was the first notable wave of black immigrants arriving in the United Kingdom.

The response and demand has since spread the exhibition across many boroughs in London including Newham, Redbridge, City of Westminster, Haringey, Merton, Lewisham and counting. Plan is to take this exhibition across the United Kingdom, with talks, Gospel music performances, films, workshops and other activities for the community.
