This practical and online workshop explores the role of photography in the documentation and exploration of Black cultural ideas, from history to the present day.
Led by Professor Shawn-Naphtali Sobers, the session also includes hands-on photography exercises and tasks. It will support participants in using the lens effectively to capture their experiences in whatever situations.
Participants will also have the opportunity to get feedback on their work.
Facilitator: Professor Shawn-Naphtali Sobers is a lecturer in photography at the University of the West of England and is director of the Critical Race and Culture Research Group. He is a visual anthropologist, photographer, filmmaker and regularly writes about different aspects of Black history and cultural experience.
