Join Black Creative Trailblazers and Manchester Museum for an evening designed to reflect, recharge and connect.
Taking inspiration from The Cat that Slept for 1000 Years, this event invites creatives from across Manchester to consider how caring for ourselves—and our dreams—can shape a more thoughtful, sustainable future. Expect meaningful conversations, good vibes, and a welcoming space to simply be.
The evening’s atmosphere will be set by a live DJ spinning a soulful blend of R&B and Afrobeats, creating the perfect soundtrack for relaxed networking and creative exchange. Whether you’re winding down after a long day or looking to reignite your creative spark, the music offers a space to unwind and connect.
To help break the ice, we’ll be hosting Creative Rest Bingo, a fun and interactive way to meet new people. Each table will also feature reflective conversation cards and light table games to encourage organic, low-pressure exchanges—ideal for creatives at all stages of their journey.
A highlight of the evening will be our panel discussion, Self-Care as a Creative, hosted by writer and wellbeing advocate Ronke Jane Adelakun. Three brilliant creatives will share their experiences of resisting hustle culture and embracing rest as a vital part of their practice. An audience Q&A will follow, offering the chance to dive deeper into these powerful stories.
Guests will also have the opportunity to join a guided tour of Manchester Museum’s iconic installation, The Cat that Slept for 1000 Years. The tour explores the artwork’s themes of slow living, intentionality and rest—offering a beautiful metaphor for how we nurture our creative lives and care for ourselves.
