Black History Month Magazine 2025: Standing Firm in Power and Pride

It’s not too late to order your magazines. The Black History Month Magazine 2025 is available now for schools, workplaces, libraries, and community events across the UK. Each box contains around 50 copies (£79.50 per box) and is delivered directly by courier — perfect for your October celebrations.

The Black History Month Magazine 2025 celebrates this year’s national theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride” — a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year’s edition explores the profound contributions made by Black people who have shaped history and continue to inspire a future of empowerment, unity, and growth.

Power represents influence, leadership, and the capacity to effect positive change. It honours the visionaries who have led political, civil rights, and social movements, as well as those who have broken barriers in business, education, and the arts. Their legacies remind us that true power lies not in titles, but in collective strength, courage, and unity — the driving forces behind a fairer and more equitable future.

Pride reflects cultural identity, heritage, and the celebration of Black excellence. From art and music to storytelling and education, pride is the heartbeat of Black communities worldwide. It’s about knowing where we come from, embracing our history, and walking boldly into the future without compromise or apology. Pride is a declaration of the beauty, resilience, and unmatched contributions of Black culture to the world.

The 2025 magazine marks key anniversaries, including the 60th anniversary of the Race Relations Act and the assassination of Malcolm X. These milestones serve as powerful reminders of the ongoing struggle for equality and justice and the tireless efforts of those who have fought for the rights of Black people and communities. Eighty years after the historic Fifth Pan-African Congress, which united visionaries such as W. E. B. Du Bois, Kwame Nkrumah, and Amy Ashwood Garvey, its call for unity and liberation still resonates strongly today.

This year’s issue also remembers two towering figures in Britain’s civil rights history: Paul Stephenson OBE (1937–2024), who led the 1963 Bristol Bus Boycott, inspiring the very legislation we now commemorate; and Lord Herman Ouseley (1945–2024), former Chair of the Commission for Racial Equality, whose work reshaped national conversations on race, education, and inclusion. Their legacy continues to guide the ongoing journey toward justice and dignity for all.

Inside the Black History Month Magazine 2025, readers will find exclusive interviews and powerful reflections from inspiring figures including Lord Paul Boateng, Baroness Lola Young, and Baroness Floella Benjamin, who share their thoughts on standing firm in power and pride, overcoming prejudice, and inspiring new generations through authenticity and unity. The magazine also features thought-provoking articles, historical milestones, and tributes marking landmark anniversaries in the story of Black British achievement and activism.
