The Mary Seacole Memorial Association Summer Supper returns for an inspiring evening celebrating the life, legacy and enduring influence of Mary Seacole, while raising funds to preserve her historic gravesite. Hosted by the Mary Seacole Memorial Association, the event brings together supporters, healthcare professionals, historians and members of the community for an evening of reflection, conversation and fundraising.
This year’s keynote speaker is Professor Dame Elizabeth Nneka Anionwu OM DBE FRCN FQICN, Emeritus Professor of Nursing and one of Britain’s most distinguished nurses and health campaigners. Widely recognised for her pioneering work in sickle cell and thalassaemia care, Dame Elizabeth will share reflections on Mary Seacole’s remarkable legacy and her continuing influence on nursing, healthcare and social justice.
Held at Chandlers Community Hall in Lambeth, the Summer Supper offers guests the opportunity to enjoy an evening of dining, conversation and community while supporting the ongoing work to protect and preserve Mary Seacole’s final resting place. The event forms part of the Mary Seacole Memorial Association’s continuing commitment to ensuring that one of Britain’s most celebrated nurses is remembered by future generations.
Open to supporters of all backgrounds, the Summer Supper provides a meaningful opportunity to celebrate Black history, recognise Mary Seacole’s extraordinary contribution to British society and support the preservation of an important national heritage site.
