Celebrate Black History Month with a vibrant day of Black literature, storytelling, creativity, culture and entrepreneurship in Luton.
The Black Bookcase Showcase x Bookcast 2026 brings together authors, publishers, performers, entrepreneurs, families and book lovers for a major celebration of Black writing and creative talent.
Taking place at Luton Sixth Form College, the free event will offer visitors an opportunity to discover new books, meet writers and hear conversations exploring literature, culture, identity and the Black experience.
The programme will include live author interviews, providing audiences with an opportunity to hear writers discuss their work, inspirations and journeys into publishing.
Visitors can also experience new book launches, keynote speakers and spoken-word performances throughout the day.
A special Young People’s Hour will create space for younger readers and emerging voices, encouraging the next generation to engage with books, storytelling and creative expression.
Live African drumming will bring music, rhythm and energy to the showcase, while recordings of The Black Bookcast will give audiences an opportunity to experience the podcast being created live.
With more than 70 exhibitors expected, visitors will be able to explore an extensive selection of books, products, creative work and services from Black-owned businesses, independent authors, publishers and community organisations.
The event celebrates the richness and diversity of Black literature while recognising the important role that authors, publishers and entrepreneurs play in preserving stories and creating new opportunities.
Whether you are a dedicated reader, an aspiring writer, a parent searching for representative books or simply interested in discovering new voices, the showcase offers something to explore.
