Lady Wray

Wednesday 2 July

Lady Wray carries the charisma of a Jackson 5 family member, while also boasting similar vocal prowess to an icon such as Aretha Franklin.” – Consequence of Sound

There are very few artists in the world who can blend raw talent, genuine soul, and a voice for the ages into something entirely their own. Lady Wray is one of those rare artists.

Her musical journey began as Nicole Wray, a teenage powerhouse growing up in Virginia. At just fifteen years old, she auditioned for none other than Missy Elliott—who signed her on the spot. In 1998, her debut solo album Make It Hot exploded onto the scene, fuelled by a hit single of the same name that dominated both radio and television and achieved gold certification.

Since those early days, Lady Wray has continued to evolve, consistently blending her deep-rooted gospel, soul, and RnB influences with a modern twist. Now signed to Brooklyn’s influential Big Crown Records, she has refined her sound into something that is as emotionally rich as it is sonically timeless—drawing from old-school soul and contemporary hip-hop alike.

Following a completely sold-out show at our venue, we’re thrilled to present Lady Wray live at Village Underground—an evening that promises to be every bit as dynamic, moving, and unforgettable as her recordings. With hundreds of millions of streams to her name and a voice that has been described as “iconic”, Lady Wray will be performing a full set of her most beloved songs, including Make It Hot, Guilty, Piece of Me, Come On In, and many more.
