New and emerging voices are amplified by the prize for under-represented writers, hosted this year by novelist Dorothy Koomson and poet Joelle Taylor.
Founded in 2013, the Creative Future Writers’ Award is a development programme for talented writers from a wealth of backgrounds.
It includes the UK’s only national writing competition for all under-represented writers and a series of workshops in hubs throughout the UK.
This year’s competition invited entries from poets and fiction writers on the theme of ‘how it started.’ At this event, the winning writers read their work alongside the hosts.
Twelve writers were selected by Koomson and Taylor, with judges Sarala Estruch from Poetry School and Aki Schilz from The Literary Consultancy.
The winners receive £12,000 in cash and development prizes from leading literary partners, as well as publication in an anthology which debuts at the event.
