Dominique Palmer: Climate Joy and Optimism

Sunday 9th July

Climate justice activist Dominique Palmer invites you to find hope for the future through the beauty and joy of the natural world, in conversation with Daze Aghaji.

Dominique Palmer is a climate justice activist, speaker, storyteller, writer, model and climate optimist based in the UK. She works on uniting people for climate action, intersectional climate justice, and creating a cultural shift for protecting our earth.

She is a coordinator for Climate Live’s youth-led simultaneous global concerts, and a member of the HERO UK Climate Justice Circle.

She became an environmentalist after discovering how air pollution was impacting her community, and started her journey in climate action. The same year she was involved in organising the September 2019 climate strikes which brought 300,000 people onto the streets in the UK.

She has spoken on world stages about climate justice, her activism, and inspiring hope and action at events such as COP26, alongside speakers including Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzai and Greta Thunberg.

She was named in Forbes 2020 Top UK Environmentalists List, and featured in The Guardian documentary Whose job is it to save the planet? and publications including DAZED, the Sunday Times and British Vogue.

She pushes for equitable climate action, and pressures leaders to act. She is on the Climate Committee for Ecologi, a Treaty Champion for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and an Arctic Angel for Global Choices.

Daze Aghaji is a climate justice activist from London who centres regenerative culture, intersectionality, radical social justice and youth political engagement in her work. In 2019, she was the youngest candidate to stand in the European Parliament election, and has been described by The Guardian as ‘a ball of energy, conviction and warmth’.

Through Aghaji’s advocacy for racial systemic change, she has worked with leading charities, NGOs and grassroots change-makers globally. She has strong ties with the climate movement Extinction Rebellion. She has previously been Creative Director at environmentally focused media company Earthrise Studios, an artist in residence at Phytology and a monthly contributor to Sky TV’s climate show.
