Orpheus In The Record Shop

Thursday 13th October

Orpheus is alone, playing tunes in his record shop. After an old friend visits, strange things start to happen as music, myth and reality collide. Together with Orpheus we go in search of something ancient, contemporary and hopeful.

Back by popular demand, acclaimed rapper, playwright and world record-breaking beatboxer Testament (Black Men Walking, The Beatboxer, Blake Remixed) takes inspiration from the Greek myth of Orpheus, in a show that fuses spoken word and beatboxing with classical music, featuring members of the Chorus and Orchestra of Opera North.

Orpheus in the Record Shop was filmed for BBC Four’s Lights Up series – here’s your chance to see it live on stage.
