Serendipity and WEA present: BlackChat. BlackChat will be a forum to exchange and progress ideas and plans for issues which directly affect Black and minority communities.
Everyone is invited to be part of the conversation so we can live and work together with more understanding and respect. The first series of Blackchat ‘The Body Beautiful’ focusing broadly on the issues of mind and body. Tickets: £3 time: 11am – 1pm
Black and Gold – Sport and the Olympics
The first session will explore the politics of Black people in sport and athletes in Britain and internationally. Is Black success due to the fact of a level playing field? Black Hearts, Black Minds The second session examines social and political differences in health and well-being and will discuss issues with some key health professionals. Why, how and what can be done? Hoodies, Hijabs and Anoraks This session will discuss dress as a marker of identity and controversy. Are we really so shallow as to discriminate on the basis of what people wear?
Waiting in the Wings – Bringing Black Dance to Centre Stage
The final session will examine the untold stories of Black dance in the UK and internationally, and the need to document African Caribbean dance
practitioners and aesthetics and to support and platform their work.
