Heritage Day: Race And Representation In The Archive

Wednesday 17 July

Underrepresentation of Black communities in British archives is a common issue, with the archives that do exist presenting a colonial perspective.

Serendipity’s Collections Archivist and Digital Archivist will discuss the ongoing work for the Living Archive, to ensure the representation of the vast array of Black communities present in Britain.

In order for the Living Archive to demonstrate best practice for race and representation, guests will be invited to share their views for how to achieve this and what will help them to feel seen in a British archive.
