What’s your Story? Creating a black LGBT Canvas

Saturday 22nd October

As part of the celebrations around Black History Month, Manchester’s LGBT Foundation is organising a series of free to attend workshops around Black LGBT identities.
The  event  will be a creative workshop where Black LGBT people and their friends and family can come along and contribute to a canvas arts project by adding their own stories and pictures. The session will be facilitated by Nikky Norton Shafau, creator of www.becomingstorybook.com

Commenting on the upcoming programme, Claudia Carvell, Women’s Programme Co-ordinator at the LGBT Foundation, said:

“Black LGBT history, culture and people are often underrepresented within mainstream society and LGBT communities too. So to acknowledge this, LGBT Foundation wanted to organise a series of events that celebrate and support Black LGBT culture and heritage, and raise awareness of the great Black LGBT heroes in our shared community history.”
