Miscarriage rates are significantly higher in Black Women. Heartbreakingly, Black Women are 40% more likely to suffer from baby loss.
Women experiencing a/or multiple miscarriages require alot support at every level. So I was saddened to find the lack of specific specialist psychological/emotional support available, to black women, who have experienced a miscarriage, given the disproportionate rates, within the UK.
We know from research, miscarriage can have a significant negative impact on mental health triggering a range of complex emotions such as anxiety, depression, guilty, shame and anger. All of which can exacerbate the sense of isolation and disconnection, within the woman and with their loved ones.
I’m happy to announce I will now be creating & facilitating a specialist online support group for Black Women, who have experienced miscarriage, named ‘Black Women’s Miscarriage Support Group’. The group will be a safe place, dedicated to replacing silence and normalising pregnancy and baby loss, in black women.
The Black Women’s Miscarriage Online Support Group will help support sistas process and manage loss and grief, to hopefully find their inner peace and trust.
If you haven’t directly experienced a miscarriage, but you know of someone who has, please share, let them know they are not alone, some support is out there.
This will be a intimate and small group, given the sensitive topic, so please register your interest as soon as you can, to avoid disappointment. The group will be run on a monthly basis, the second saturday of each month.
