Bridgerton’s real Black History

Sunday 20 March

In advance of season two arriving on March 25, we review Season 1 through a Black history lens. Bridgerton was a big hit on Netflix with its scandal, wealth, period costumes and plentiful Black cast. Many are asking if there is any truth to the characters or situations.

Fact is often stranger than fiction and in this multi-media presentation we will show and prove:

  • The several real ‘Simon Duke of Hastings’ in 1700s and 1800s England
  • Actual famous Black boxers of the 19th century
  • Rich Black men and their English country estates
  • Black Queens and Princesses that actually existed in the 19th and 20th century
  • A real Black heiress and the mansion where she lived in London
  • White aristocracy and their Black lovers from the 1700s to World War 2
  • Hidden African history in European buildings and weddings
  • Numerous Black composers and their beautiful classical music
  • Actual African royal families in Africa compared to their European counterparts
