Bynum Tudor Lecture: La June Montgomery Tabron

Thursday 23th June

La June Montgomery Tabron gives the annual Bynum Tudor Lecture at Kellogg and online.

Join President Professor Jonathan Michie and Fellows as we welcome Bynum Tudor Fellow La June Montgomery Tabron to Kellogg to deliver the annual Bynum Tudor Lecture. This year’s lecture is entitled ‘Racial Equity 2030: Reimagining and building a future where every child thrives.’

This event is free and open to all.

The COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare inequities in health, wealth and opportunity. The uprising for racial justice has gone global. But the systems that perpetuate inequity and injustice have been generations in the making.

As we continue to recover and emerge from the shared trauma of the past two years, another healing journey must begin. Today, all around the world, too many children’s futures are bound by the colour of their skin, their families’ circumstances or the limits of opportunity because of systemic inequities in their communities. In honour of its 90th anniversary, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) issued the $90 million Racial Equity 2030 global challenge to invite, build and scale actionable ideas for transformative change in the systems and institutions that uphold inequities.

But what is racial equity? What are we trying to achieve and how do we get there, as individuals and as a global society? WKKF President and CEO La June Montgomery Tabron will describe a collaborative vision for the year 2030, and beyond, where all children can once again dream and have hope. She will share the racial healing journey and bold leadership skills that are required to reimagine an equitable future where all children, families and communities can truly thrive.

This event is in-person and will also be streamed live, and recorded. There will also be a photographer taking photos at the event. If you are booking to attend online, you will receive a link with your event reminder email.

Refreshments will be served from 5 pm in the Kellogg Hub, followed by the lecture at 5.30 pm.

There will then be an opportunity to ask La June your questions during a Q&A session.

If you would like to submit a question beforehand, please email communications@kellogg.ox.ac.uk no later than 17:00 (BST) on Wednesday 22nd June.
