Somali Literature Evening: Ahmed Karama, Nimo Noor Xikmaawi& Sir Mohamoud

This evening will see the launch of two highly anticipated autobiography books of two great role models.

 

This is immensely important work in a traditionally oral society and they are celebrated for this contribution to Somali literature and history. this will be followed by conversation with Nimco Noor about her literature.

“Foolaad” by Cabdikariim Xikmaawi, about the life, music and struggle of one of the greatest artists, human rights activist and educationalist Maxamed Mooge. Cabdikariim is poet, author and an expert in Somali language.

Ahmed Abdi Hassan is an author, his latest book is focused on the works and the life of the great Somali artist, the late Xasan Qawdhan Yusuf Titled: Joogaha Maqan. Ahmed works as an accountant in treasury section of Bank of Somaliland.

Nimco Noor is a teacher, who works for the Ministry of Education and culture in Finland, Helsinki. Nimco has published four books including: Somali Memory Games, Somali Card Games and has developed an educational app that aids kids in teach Somali which can be downloaded on any smart phone. Nimco received the Golden women awards in Helsinki in 2016 and Vuosaari Vuokko in 2018. She will be sharing her latest works and insights
