Black Heroes: The Debate

Saturday 12 May 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm

Heroes Debate

Inspired reflections in song on freedom, equality and world peace

Children of the Windrush Generation, British cultural pioneers Kofi and Noel McKoy and young emerging artists Roman Harris and ArA Harmonic, perform unique artistic responses to the Great Debate monologues from Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame; inspired by speeches and texts by Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and Nelson Mandela

Set in her radio station studio, DJ Elayne co-hosts with STORM Empowerment, as they curate a show filled with music, song, spoken word, short films, interviews and games that explore the history of the peoples of Africa and their contribution to freedom, equality and world peace.

The Debate takes us on a creative journey to reimagine the legend of Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame. It’s a gathering, welcoming people of all cultures and all ages to examine themes and motivations of the original production; reflect on current day issues and be inspired by the philosophies and achievements of Black political and cultural heroes.
