Black On The Square 2026

Saturday 5th September 2026

Black On The Square returns to Trafalgar Square for its fourth year, bringing together thousands of Londoners and visitors for one of the capital’s largest free celebrations of Black culture, creativity and community. Presented by the Mayor of London, the award-winning festival celebrates the rich contribution Black communities continue to make to the city’s cultural, artistic and economic life, transforming one of Britain’s most iconic public spaces into a vibrant showcase of music, food, fashion, enterprise and creativity.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of live performances featuring established artists alongside emerging talent from across London’s diverse creative scene. Music, dance, spoken word and cultural performances will be complemented by interactive workshops, family-friendly activities and creative experiences designed to celebrate Black heritage while encouraging participation from people of all ages and backgrounds.

The festival marketplace offers an opportunity to discover a wide range of Black-owned businesses, independent designers, artists and artisan producers. Visitors can browse fashion, jewellery, beauty products, artwork, books and handmade gifts while sampling food inspired by the flavours of Africa, the Caribbean and the wider Black diaspora. The event continues to champion entrepreneurship, providing an important platform for both established businesses and emerging enterprises.

Community organisations from across London will also be taking part, offering information about education, health, culture, volunteering and local initiatives. Together with creative workshops and interactive activities, the event provides opportunities to learn more about the achievements, history and continuing influence of Black communities while celebrating the diversity that makes London one of the world’s great multicultural cities.

Since its launch, Black On The Square has become an important fixture in London’s cultural calendar, attracting thousands of visitors each year and reinforcing Trafalgar Square’s role as a place where communities come together to celebrate the capital’s diversity. Whether you’re discovering new artists, supporting Black-owned businesses, enjoying live performances or simply soaking up the atmosphere, the festival promises an inspiring day of culture, creativity and community in the heart of London.
