Chloe Reid, London Fire Brigade 2018 – Present

“I joined the Brigade because I wanted a role that gave me purpose and liked the idea of subverting the stereotype surrounding female firefighters! I have an opportunity to help people in a unique and challenging way and I love it. “

Chloe decided at the age of 20 that she wanted to become a firefighter. It took 10 years of applications to successfully get through the recruitment process, but Chloe was determined. As a firefighter, Chloe’s role is to prevent fires through education and to protect both life and property in event of a fire. However, on a personal level, Chloe says “I see my wider role as part of a cultural shift. I want children to see themselves when they see the firefighters of London – particularly girls!”
