Claudia Jones Memorial Lecture

Join us on 14 November as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the NUJ Claudia Jones Memorial Lecture.

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and its Black Members’ Council is hosting its annual free event to celebrate the life and work of trailblazer Claudia Jones.

A heroine of modern times – a journalist, activist and campaigner – perhaps best known as one of the founding members of The Notting Hill Carnival and the first black newspaper, The West Indian Gazette and Afro-Asian Caribbean News, this remarkable black woman made a significant contribution to society.

The NUJ invites you to join us in remembering her life and the continuing struggle for equality today. The in-person event is one not to miss!

GUEST SPEAKERGary Younge

Gary Younge is an award-winning journalist, author and broadcaster. Now a professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester, he is also a former Guardian columnist and NUJ Member of Honour.
