Basketball Wales has joined forces with Guardian Ballers and Swansea-based Futures Without Borders to hold a special Black History Month basketball event for young people aged eight to 18.
Taking place at LC Swansea on Saturday 24 October, the afternoon will combine basketball activities with a wellbeing session, food and Black History Month celebrations.
The initiative aims to demonstrate how sport can provide far more than physical activity, creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, make connections and think about wellbeing and identity.
Guardian Ballers combines basketball with mental and emotional wellbeing education through its BALL–BE–BETTER approach, while Futures Without Borders works to support underrepresented and marginalised communities.
The partnership with Basketball Wales brings the organisations together around a shared focus on inclusion, young people and community.
Black athletes have made an enormous contribution to sport in Britain and internationally, but grassroots sport can be just as important in creating the next generation of players, coaches, volunteers and community leaders.
For Black History Month 2026, the event provides an opportunity to celebrate those contributions while giving young people the chance to get active and meet others.
The event is open to girls and boys aged eight to 18 and is completely free, although registration is required.
