SWLA is recruiting adopters now, so if you are interested in adoption please get in touch. Most adults can adopt — irrespective of age, gender, marital status, religion or ethnicity

The South West London Adoption Consortium brings together four London Boroughs (Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Sutton) to work together in order to recruit, assess and approve adopters for children waiting both locally and nationally.

We work hard to make the adoption process as seamless as possible for our children waiting for adoption and potential adoptive parents. As a partnership of four London boroughs, we have a wealth of experience and a number of children waiting to be matched with their forever families. From your initial enquiry, to assessment and post-approval we are here every step of the way to advise, support and guide you.

We have children waiting for adoption who come from a range of ethnic backgrounds as well as waiting to be adopted as part of a sibling group. All of the children waiting for adoptive parents need a loving, stable home. They need parents who will stick by them through the good times and the bad. They need support and love to help them overcome their troubled backgrounds, make sense of who they are and grow up to be safe and secure.

The aim for everyone in the adoption system is to find loving families for each child in need of a happy future, even if there is not a perfect ethnic match. Ethnicity is relevant however and you must have an understanding of the challenges that raising a child of a different ethnicity can provide.
