Omar

Friday 9th September

Omar Lyefook MBE is without doubt, one of the greatest soul music talents the United Kingdom has ever produced.

His deep baritone vocals sit perfectly on multi-instrumental productions for beautifully soulful music. Majorly self produced works have inspired collaborations from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Leon Ware, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, and Estelle.

A truly unique and original voice accompanied with musicianship and songwriting talent, establish Omar as a pioneer in British soul. A precursor to neo-soul and acid jazz movements, he outlasted the peak of these tags to continue to deliver his own inimitable brand of soul music.

Omar received an MBE in 2012 for services to the British Music Industry. The father of neo-soul has a career spanning over 3 decades, garnering wide respect within the worlds of soul, jazz, funk and R&B.
