Join the South London Gallery for a special Windrush Day screening of While I Have You, a moving programme of short films exploring memory, family history and intergenerational storytelling.
Curated by producer and director Lauren Gee for Windrush Day 2026, the screening brings together three documentary works by Holly Graham, Mia Harvey and Dion Hesson. Through personal conversations and oral histories, each film examines how stories are passed down through generations and why preserving them matters.
The programme explores memory as something both fragile and enduring. Through intimate portraits and reflections, the films capture the voices of loved ones, preserving experiences that might otherwise be lost. Looking at what has changed over time, what remains constant and what is inherited across generations, the works offer powerful insights into identity, heritage and belonging.
Following the screening, audiences will have the opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers during a live Q&A, providing further insight into the creative process and the themes explored within the films.
Presented on Windrush Day itself, While I Have You offers a thoughtful and engaging evening that highlights the importance of oral history, family memory and community storytelling.
