Mr Adegboro, the Head of Mathematics at my school, is someone who believes in his students and encourages us to believe in ourselves. He cares about helping us succeed and become the best versions of ourselves, and he works hard every day to make sure we feel supported, challenged and motivated, whatever our ability.
I am proud to nominate him for Honouring Black Britain 2026 because of the positive impact he has had on so many students and staff. His dedication to education and to the people around him makes him someone who deserves recognition.
As Head of Mathematics, he has helped improve the department and encouraged students to have a more positive attitude towards the subject. Maths can be difficult for many of us, but he finds ways to explain things clearly and make lessons engaging.
He gives extra support to students who are struggling and pushes those who are doing well to aim even higher. Because of his efforts, many students have gained confidence in their abilities and achieved results they never thought were possible.
One of the things that makes him stand out is the way he inspires others. He is always willing to give advice, offer help or simply listen when someone needs support. Many students look up to him because he is hardworking, approachable and fair.
He treats everyone with respect and creates an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes. That matters when you are finding something difficult. His encouragement helps us keep trying and recognise that there is room to improve.
His support also extends beyond the classroom. He has a real passion for boxing, which he shares through the Box Fit club he runs at school. The club gives students a chance to stay active, improve their fitness and develop discipline, determination and self-confidence.
He puts a lot of time and effort into running it because he wants us to have opportunities outside our lessons as well. Through boxing and fitness, he teaches us that success comes from hard work, consistency and not giving up when things get difficult.
The lessons students learn in Box Fit often help them in other areas of their lives too. The same determination that helps someone keep going during a fitness session can encourage them to persevere with a difficult subject or another challenge.
Another thing many of us appreciate is his love of telling stories. He shares experiences from his own life and stories about successful people who have overcome challenges to achieve their goals.
These stories inspire us to think differently about our own lives and ambitions. They remind us that setbacks are part of the journey towards success and that, with determination and effort, we can achieve more than we think.
His stories often stay with students long after the lesson has ended. They give us something to remember when we face challenges ourselves and help us find the motivation to carry on.
I believe Mr Adegboro deserves recognition because of the difference he makes through these everyday acts of teaching, listening and encouragement. He is an excellent teacher, a strong leader and an inspiring role model.
Through his maths lessons, his leadership of Box Fit and the advice he gives, he has helped many students grow in confidence. He takes the time to help us understand what we are capable of and encourages us to work towards it.
For me, that is what makes his contribution so important. He believes in us, including at times when we find it difficult to believe in ourselves. That is something students can carry with them long after they leave his classroom.
