Hop into a magical family adventure filled with Bollywood-inspired music, Indian dance, comedy, puppetry and plenty of surprises.
Spontaneous Productions presents a brand-new musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale, created for children of all ages—and adults too.
Meet Princess Bheki, the Maharajah’s spoilt and pampered only daughter. When she refuses to follow her father’s wishes, he turns her into a frog—with disastrous and very funny consequences.
Life in the pond is not easy, but Bheki soon meets the charismatic Daddoo the Frog. Can he help her accept her unusual new life? Is there any way for Bheki to become a princess again? And what will happen to her maid, Kumee, who has been transformed into a slow-moving turtle?
Featuring South Asian musical styles including bhangra and Bollywood, the production combines songs, Indian dance, shadow effects, audience participation, action and comedy.
The cast includes Akshay Sharan as Kabir the Maharajah and Daddoo the Frog, Kate Barry as Kathleen and Kumee the Turtle, Marlon-Oliver Harris as Mr Snake and Hanu, and Shalvi Singh as Princess Bheki and Bheki the Frog.
The show was written and adapted by Jonathan Kaufman and Mina Maira, produced and directed by Jonathan Kaufman, and choreographed by Manorma Joisi.
