Join five online gatherings dedicated to remembering the past, repairing its effects, rebuilding communities and considering how future generations can thrive.
International African Holocaust Month 2026 brings people together every Saturday throughout October for a programme of reflection, discussion and collective learning.
The organisers explain:
“We are not gathering merely to remember how our people died. We are gathering to determine how we, their descendants, shall live.”
Under the theme Five Sabbaths to Remember, Repair, Rebuild and Return, the programme invites participants to explore memory, identity, education, community and the future of African people and their descendants.
The opening session, The Children: Don’t Kill the Seed, focuses on the experiences of melanated children and considers how identity, memory and education influence the next generation.
The programme recognises that children are not simply waiting to become adults—they represent the continuation and future of their communities. Participants will be encouraged to consider how history, education and cultural knowledge can help protect, support and empower younger generations.
Further sessions will continue the journey of remembrance, repair, rebuilding and return throughout October.
The event takes place online, and registration is required to receive the Zoom joining information.
