Bald Black Girl(s) – Queering Through The Lens Photography Workshop

Sat, Sep 26, 11:00

Join award-winning photographer Myah Jeffers in an exciting hands on workshop, exploring documentary photography.

This workshop will dissect the work of photographers who use their practice to explore the notion of truth within their work. It will also provide you with the basic tools to capture your own authentic portraits that tell an important story. Come along for a chance to digest and critique portraiture, as well as making your own.

Myah Jeffers is a Barbadian-British documentary and portrait photographer, dramaturg and director, living and working in London. She is currently a Literary Associate at The Royal Court and the 2019 Portrait of Britain winner. Her work in both theatre and photography is focused on Black experiences and aims to use portraiture to illuminate Black and queer joy as acts of resistance.

NOTE FOR PARTICIPANTS:

*You do not have to be a professional photographer to partake in this workshop. You just have to be an individual with an interest in photography, particularly documentary & portraiture photography. Emerging photographers interested in this genre are also welcome.

*This workshop is for Black participants only. We do not associate with or endorse political Blackness.

*Participants must bring their own camera (digital, film or smart phone).

*There is a limited amount of spaces for this workshop, so do buy your ticket quickly as to not miss out.
